Description and theory

Abmadd2 is equivalent to G sharp minor added 2nd. Abmadd2 can be seen as an Ab minor triad with an added second (Bb) and is comparable to Abmadd9. It is usually played as a barre chord or movable shape (although the pictured barre shape doesn't give much room for the fingers).

Chord structure

The chord consists of four notes. The notes represent the root, second, minor third and perfect fifth intervals. Notice that the fifth sometimes can be omitted.

Chord name

Abmadd2 is an abbreviation for A flat minor added second. A less common abbreviation is Abmin add2.

Notes
