Description and theory

Abadd2 is equivalent to G sharp added 2nd. Abadd2 can be seen as an Ab triad with an added second (Bb) and is comparable to Abadd9. It is usually played as one of the possible movable shapes.

Chord structure

The chord consists of four notes. The notes represent the root, second, major third and perfect fifth intervals. Notice that the fifth sometimes can be omitted.

Abadd2 is an abbreviation for A flat added second. A less common abbreviation is Ab2.
