Although its enharmonic equivalents Gx (G double sharp) or Bbb are theoretically valid in certain advanced harmonic situations, they are rarely used as chord roots because musicians more naturally expect A. As a result, A and Am are far more common than Gx, Gxm, Bbb or Bbbm in everyday music notation.
