Description and theory

Em6 is usually played as a movable shape or in open positions.

Chord structure

The chord consists of four notes. The notes represent the root, minor third, perfect fifth and major sixth. Notice that the fifth is sometimes omitted.

Chord name

Em6 is an abbreviation for E minor sixth. A less common abbreviation is Emin6. A third system is the minus symbol: E-6.
