Amadd9 can be seen as an A minor triad with an added ninth (B) and is comparable to Amadd2. It is usually played as an open chord, and sometimes it's played as a barre chord or closed chord as a movable shape.
Chord structure
The chord consists of four notes. The notes represent the root, minor third, perfect fifth and major ninth intervals. Notice that the seventh isn't included and also that the fifth sometimes can be omitted.

Amadd9 is an abbreviation for A minor added ninth. A less common abbreviation is Amin add9.
