Description and theory

The A#11 is a dominant chord and equivalent to B flat 11th. It's usually played as one of three movable shapes depending on the most suitable position on the fretboard, or played as a barre chord.

Chord structure

The chord consists of six notes. The notes represent the root, major third, perfect fifth, minor seventh, major ninth and perfect eleventh intervals. Notice that the third, fifth and/or the ninth are sometimes omitted.

Chord name

A#11 is an abbreviation for A sharp dominant eleventh. A less common abbreviation is A#dom11.
