A# is rarely used in practical music notation. Consequently, Bb and Bbm are generally preferred over A# and A#m.

In major contexts, A# major is theoretically awkward because it requires spellings such as Cx (C double sharp) and Gx (G double sharp), so musicians usually prefer Bb major instead.

In minor contexts, A# minor also tends to create unnecessarily complex spellings, which makes Bb minor the more practical and readable choice in most chord charts and other notation.
