Description and theory

C11 is usually played as one of three movable shapes depending on the most suitable position on the fretboard. Although three of the chord notes are present among the open strings in standard tuning, there are no natural suitable fingerings in open positions (some possibilities are X30311 and X33310 as well as 8X8760).

Comments

Notice the similarity with the C7-shape for the X32311version, which by the way omits the 5th (just as the X32310 C7 version does).

Chord structure

The chord consists of six notes. The notes represent the root, major third, perfect fifth, minor seventh, major ninth and perfect eleventh intervals. Notice that the third, fifth and/or the ninth are sometimes omitted.
