C# is one of the few accidentals that often stays sharp in both major and minor harmony.

In major contexts, Db major is often preferred for key signatures because it is easier to read (five flats instead of seven sharps), but in chord charts, C# is still very common.

In minor contexts, C# minor is strongly preferred over Db minor because it fits naturally with common keys like E major and avoids awkward spellings such as Fb and Cb. As a result, C#m is far more common in practical music notation than Dbm.
