Description and theory
Abm11 is equivalent to G sharp minor 11th. Abm11 is usually played as one of three movable shapes depending on the most suitable position on the fretboard. It can also be played as a barre chord whereas it lacks options with natural fingerings for chords in open positions.
Chord structure
The chord consists of six notes. The notes represent the root, minor third, perfect fifth, minor seventh, major ninth and perfect eleventh intervals. Notice that the fifth and/or the ninth are sometimes omitted.
Chord name
Abm11 is an abbreviation for A flat minor eleventh. A less common abbreviation is Abmin11. A third system is the minus symbol: Ab-11.
